Hi All,
Got the abovelights flashing on dash. Citrojim suggests a problem possibly with connectors , sensors etc.
Can I confirm the double fans are a similar set up to 1.9TD but what are the differences.
How do I set both fans spinning ie brwon sensor on 1.9TD pulled will cause both fans to spin at full speed.

Re: flashing stop light and temp light
Similar symptoms can be caused by faulty fan relay when aircon on via switch or demist. IIRC, center relay base corroded on mine. Relays in triangular box in front of fan housing. HTH.

Re: flashing stop light and temp light
As Harry has written, first area to look in the triangular box between the Fans, the flashing of the Temp light indicates the SLOW SPEED is not working....

Thanks for the replies,
I have a full set of relays from TD which I think will be the same.
IIRC when I started her up it was the right hand fan that came on immediately which did raise an eyebrow.
Just to confirm right hand fan is driver's side look at car from the front.

Re: flashing stop light and temp light
Well, took off relay cover between fans and right hand relay, it has shorted across pins 4 and 5 which has melted down the relay between them.
Will need to replace relay holder and check wiring.
Interestingly, the relay is a 5 pin but on wiring diagram it is 4 pin.I've 2 4pin relays spare which are new from TD. Also I see the secondary supply for hhigh speed mode is run throught the double injection relay.

Good luck changing the house Kenny, wiring behind the relays is increadably TIGHT and the holders hardly come out forward to work on them...

Yeah, Paul I remember the fun I had with my TD.
I was think of removing radiator and fans to improve the access if required.
But I'm going to try and check the base is okay first.

Hi All,
Well put 4 pin relay in and the fans are working. Left fan a bit sticky will require some lubrication.
