Help! Is this the correct cambelt pulley?

Post by Jaf »

Help! First off the tensioner was wrong, no lug at the end for the spring to push on. Now the other pulley has quite a chunk of metal less than the original. The new one is the one at the top of the pic. The holes are in the right place and I don't think the extra metal does anything?!? It's a continental kit. The fella kept saying the tensioner was the same so I don't trust him one bit!

Thanks!

Does that tensioner adjust? If not I don't think it's the same because the offset of the wheel is different. Do you have a part number for the tensioner and engine code for the car please?

No James it doesn't. Think that pic was misleading. Hard to show but the bolt holes do line up, though the pulley is a fraction over. Second pic is one top of the other.

I see what you mean, misleading parralax.
The part number correlates to the engine.
I personally wouldn't want to fit it as I think that missing bit of metal sits near the alternator and blocks dirt/debris from entering the cambelt area.
The spec are correct though and it is an OEM part.

Sorry, just looked at a PIC of the cambelt. I'd use that tensioner. My memory was confusing that tensioner with one of the alternator belt pulleys.

Ok thank you. Going to see if they do have the other one just in case. Does PIC mean computer something? Can I get hold of the computer age equivalent of micro fiche?

Thanks again. Went to Citroen to pick up a crankshaft bolt (not there yet predictably) so asked there. They said it was fine. Still would prefer it to be the same as the old one but never mind, sure I'll forget it once it's on.
