DW10CTED4 oil cooler gasket

Post by lawns »

I am asking for help on the best gasket material and thickness to make a flat flange joint for the oil cooler to oil filter body. Citroen & Peugeot only list this gasket for the 1.4 & 1.6 HDI engines which do not have the same oil coolers or joint faces as the 2.0 HDI DW10CTED4. After market oil coolers for this engine also do not come with this joint gasket. From the number of posts I have read on this and other forums about my problem of "engine oil in coolant header tank" this would seem to be a problem on oil filter cooler assemblies fitted to lots of HDI engines so will also put the same post on the Peugeot forum.
Thanking you for any help you can give.

If you are careful, RTV could be used. Apply RTV to component and spread with a wet flat stick.
Offer it up and lightly hand tighten. It can be left a few hrs to go off a bit, then torqued up. That should give a slightly thicker gasket than compressing the material when thin and runny.
The problem with buying proper sheet composite gasket is the price for one little square.

Hi lexi, sorry its taken so long to reply. Thank you for your help, I found it was not a flat face gasket but round and oval square section seals so gave them a thin coat of RTV. All seems to be good , see my post in Peugeot forum for details.
Kind regards
