C5 BSI reset.

Post by hirsty »

I am planning to do this on my new (to me) C5. How do I reset autolights and window controls.
I have read and copied down Myglarens excellent guide.
Sorry if this seems a daft question but I have only had the car a few weeks and have not digested the handbook yet. :? :?

There shouldn't be anything to do regarding the lights, but if you have anti-pinch windows (fronts at least should be) you will need to power the windows fully down down, then hold the button up until the windows reach the top. Keep holding for a second or 2 when they are closed and you should hear a feint click as the anti-pinch device is reinitialised. If the window gets stuck when raising it, just release the button and then reapply and keep doing this until the window is fully raised and you have heard the little click.

Unless you are having definite problems do not fiddle with it. The BSI reset is a procedure which is meant the help insure that the BSI boots up cleanly after disconnecting the battery. It is also used to give a clean restart to solve problems which may have been caused for example by jump starting either itself or using it to start another vehicle. Even doing that seldom causes a problem. Never try to fix that which isn't broken. This is the sort of needless tinkering that causes problems.

Hi All, newby here...

I know this thread is a couple of months old, but hopefully l can get a bit of help here too...

I have a 2011 C5 2.0HDI 160 which has started resetting the radio/nav unit every few minutes. At first it was just a reboot, but recently it reset the whole unit; i.e. losing all radio presets, wiping sat nav history, restoring colour scheme to default etc. After a bit of googling and suggestions from this forum, I have replaced the battery and done a bsi reset, but problem still exists!

Firstly, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Secondly, should a bsi reset wipe the memory seat positions? (it did not after mine, so not sure if i didn't do it right?)

Thanks in advance!

Ok, I suspect that you need a firmware update on your system as there are known issues with many units and an update is likely to resolve it. Can you post or PM your VIN and I'll be able to help determine your Head Unit and Nav system and tell you how to get the current version info and updates.

There are 4 systems available for this year, MyWay, Navidrive 3D, Navidrive (RT4/5) & eMyWay. These are made by different manufacturers and each has different firmware & software requirements. :-D
