they are under the gear lever cover,there are two one with white plug on end and other green with plug they are running to the back of the car but not connected to anythink under the gear cover

As Dave explains - you need to identify the wires by their numbers printed on.
The Xantia Citroen generation of cars uses these prints for cable identification - unlike the earlier Citroens with coloured markers.
The id numbers can then simply be traced from the Xantia electrics schematics.
