Having a problem starting my Xantia. RAC said no power to glow plugs, possible relay or computer management (ECU). Taken to Citroen who found no problem (checked every day for 5 days !!)
Happen again 6 weeks later, but this time disconnected battery (to reboot computer, or free stuck relay) and reconnected, started fine.
Does anyone know if this is this a computer fault or just a stuck relay, and if so which one (part number would be great)
Thanks
Xantia 1.9TD Relay or ECU

As best i know there is NO ecu on any PSA 1.9TD (although there is the electronic imoboliser on some).
The relay is a black box (usually has BOSCH written on it) screwed into the inside of the passenger side wing (near all the wiring and fuses)

My 97 Xantia 1.9TD has an ECU that my 95 Xantia 1.9TD doesn't have, it was introduced in or around 1996 and controls the injection advance and not much else.

had 2 xantias in the past old & new shape, both gave probs with glowplugs at one time or another. both times I traced fault to glowplug controller (little black box mounted to wing forward of batt) - in both cases the power connections on the bottom were heavily correded and in one the corrosion was inside over the circuit board. Stripping them down & cleaning solved the prob.
citroen electrics always seem to be a corrosion magnet!!
