Anyone tried Meyle drop links?

Has anybody tried these Meyle drop links? My friends put them on his S60 as they are the preferred brand on the Volvo forum. The S60 has similar tendencies to the Xantia regarding eating drop links and they do appear to be good quality. I've had no joy finding the Lemforder ones in the correct thread size for my cars so need to find something else that will last at least a year.

Haven't tried any of their stuff. Have you tried Mr Auto for Lemforder ones? Only thing is their £39 min spend for free post. I just make it up with filters etc.
At £22 a set I don't see them being made in Fatherland. Could still be good though.

Some Lemförder stuff is made elsewhere; Spain, Portugal come to mind.

At £35 a side theres no problem with the minimum delivery fee, I don't like the price though green only cost £20 more than that. The M12 ones are only £22 but I don't really want to drill the cars.

I'm not entirely sure what to do. I still like the idea of buying quality rods and ball joints from a race car supplier and making my own in the style of these but with a turnbuckle like this.
The balljoints on these are £7 each and can be replaced individually when worn, the whole thing is about £25 to £30 per side. The ball joints are teflon lined, hardened steel as well so I expect they are tougher than standard car parts.

I'll probably get the Meyles for Red and do Green with one Lemforder and one of my racing inspired ones. I'll replace whichever ones wear out fastest with the longest lasting type.

Fitted a pair of the HD ones to our C4 Pic nearly 2 years ago - no problems yet: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... =3&t=47065! They were much better made than any of the cheap ones I have fitted in the past.

That sounds quite promising. My latest cheapo lasted about 3 weeks before it began rattling.

I've fitted cheap ones that rattled from new; and one that lasted only a few months before the shaft and joint parted company!

Those Lemforder were £18 last time I bought for my Xantia. Too much.

I haven't seen those but I have given up on very cheap ones as the rubber boots fail after a year or so and let the water in. I still buy mine from ebay but I have a good look at the pictures and compare them and I have found that usually if they are individually boxed in the manufacturers packing they are fairly decent. I am on the third pair on the 406, the last being the ones mentioned and they have already lasted longer than the previous replacements.

I have just replaced one of the rear suspension tie rods as it was rattling and was surprised to find that it wasn't the ball joint that had failed but the rubber bush on the other end!

I fitted a pair of these Meyle drop links to my C4 2.0HDI after the muppets at my local Arnold Clark managed to damage the originals (MOT advisory was the first I knew of the damage - lower ends were bent). The new drop links appeared well made and have been OK over at least two years so no complaints.

Definately sprout for decent ones. I had a set that were quiet but the boots were knackered and let all the grease out, replaced for cheap ones and they're knocking already :-/
