Managed to break my sensor. What is needed in order to fit another sensor either new or second hand?
If I fit a second hand is there any numbers I need from the sensor. Seen a second hand one but the barcode sticker is missing.

Re: C5 mk1 tyre pressure sensor help
Just a thought, been reading that new sensors need to be excited??? Would a secondhand one not need this?
Got a Launch x341 and other scanners at work so hopefully may be able program if needed.

Re: C5 mk1 tyre pressure sensor help
I wouldn't bother with second hand sensors - the batteries are only meant to last about five years from new. Even if yiu got them free there's the cost of removing, re-fitting and balancing the tyres when the batteries fail.
TBH, I wouldn't bother at all personally - if you check your tyre pressures regularly the sensors are largely redundant, and if you don't they have too wide a tolerance to be much use. Yes, they will warn of sudden deflation from a puncture, but you'd feel that anyway, even in a Citroen (a modern one, anyway)!

Re: C5 mk1 tyre pressure sensor help
No cost involved for myself for removing tyres and balancing. I would like the system to work, like things to work a little ocd ha ha.

Re: C5 mk1 tyre pressure sensor help
As the sensors go to sleep when the wheels aren't turning they go to sleep to preserve battery life, to fit them to a new car you need an exciter to wake up the sensor in order for the car TPS ecu to recognise the sensor, this is done with a procedure involving pumping up the tyre to a very high pressure, then getting the ecu to recognise the sensor via say Lexia then lowering the pressure to normal pressure and again acknowledging the set pressure with Lexia. Not a difficult procedure to carry out but all but impossible without an exciter and decent diagnostic equipment.
