Xantia hydralic pump pulley prob

Post by kookysaphire »

Hi
I have just bought a secondhand replacement hydralic pump from a dealer on the net. After nearly 2 weeks for the part it turned out to have a different size pulley to mine (2L 8V 1992). The one they sent has a pulley wheel that is 5 1/2 inch in diametre were as mine is 4 3/8 approx. Anyway have tried to just swap the pulley wheels over but both are stuck solid. Have tried 3 different size belts but none fit either to small or to loose. Has anyone got any ideas? Does anyone know which xantia has a pulley of 5 1/2 inch? [:(]

No idea to what models different pulley diameters fit - but it's known that 16v engines are generally driven off higher engine revs to exploit their extra umph. Hence a larger diameter pulley to lessen the strain on the pump.
I'm pretty sure you will NOT succeed in getting off the pulley from the pump axle - as they are pressfit on and any standard tooling pulling on it will simply damage the pulley - bits still remaining on the axle.
To say it clear : you need the correct pump type fitting your engine.
