PEUGEOT 407SW - Electric mirrors

I have a 57 plate 407SW and today the electric mirrors developed a mind of their own, turning in and out at will and now finally stuck in. Any ideas of where to start or likely causes. Any help most welcome.

Dirty switch in the door ?....I cleaned one once and it was full of horrid stuff.
