Ok, so I've finally taken some photos of the new stainless steel strips.

Would I do it again? Not on a white car with painted bumpers etc. Firstly the strips are wider than the originals (0.5mm) and so had to lie on an angle and wouldn't fit through the spaces at the ends without cutting the plastic - this was expected from the instructions supplied but using a round file as instructed I think caused more damage, I resorted to using a craft knife - cutting from the back but viewing from the front as I did so. I have touching up to do with paint where I cut away the plastic and where the steel cut the paint while sliding through. (Not very good photos)

You don't have to slide the steel through from one end to the other, I found I could VERY GENTLY flex the steel strips so I could slide one end in and then the other from the front side, the strip goes through the spaces far easier at a 45 degree angle then gently coaxed flat and pushed into place. Because I could do this it meant that I could add loads of adhesive on the front side of the plastic then put the steel strip in place and not rely on the little I could squeeze through the holes (that used to hold the original trim) from the back. The holes are very small so on half of them I cut out the central bar to give more access for adhesive.
I wonder whether if the bumpers etc. were black and not painted the strips would have fitted perfectly, and no touching up would be needed.
They do look very good, don't get me wrong, and I think Brian has done a great service for Xantias, just thought I would share my experience. Of course now the front and rear trims look a little dull, there is no corrosion yet but I assume the plastic has become dull, so any tips for improving that?
Very interested in the 'wrapping' idea, how does it stand up to stone chips?
