Peugeot 207 repeated rear light cluster issue

Unread post by ashy90 »

My mums 56 plate Peugeot 207 keeps every so often beeping and coming up with rear lights defective. Sometimes I find a bulb has blown, other times all bulbs are working fine. In can be fine for ages and then start it all again. When I looked at it today it gave warnings for every single rear bulb on the left hand side rear light cluster being faulty. Yet, they all work fine?

I cant see any corrosion, loose connections etc. I can see what looks light a slightly burnt bit on the plug though. Any ideas what to do?

Might need a new earth. 407s suffer this issue.

You should be able to run an extra earth wire to the body, if there are no screws handy, drill a small hole and fit a self tapper, grease it all well.

Have a read at this fix. The same problem plagues the 207.

Had a big dose of this with a VW Caddy. Better still when it detects a fault it disconnects the power from that bulb and will not switch it on again until the offending light is turned off and back on again. Various tail lamps brake lights and front side lamps not working in a total random selection. In the end I gave a thorough clean to all the bulbs with steel wool and cleaned all the lampholders using wet and dry paper which I kept wet with wd40. I then sprayed al with said wd40. 6 months on all still good.
