TZD Engine Swap parts advice needed

Unread post by oilyspanner »

Hello all, I bought a BX TZD last weekend with a dead clutch and a blowing head gasket, I am replacing the engine with a spare good one I have from a Pug 405(very healthy 1.9 TD). Question. on the back of the block on the pug motor a water pipe comes off the block next to the fuel heater pipes and runs parallel with the bottom hose joining the built in header tank on the pug radiator. I am sure I have seen this pipe blanked off on Citroen motors with a black rubber cap, can anyone confirm this.

Yes, I think you could be right about blanking off that pipe. I'm sure I've seen a similar arrangement on a 306TD.
I suppose it depends what rad and pipe arrangement you are using in the BX. Is the BX already a Turbo D??

Yes the BX is a late 1.7TD I intend to swap anything required, A mate has already told me to use the BX Flywheel and gearbox as the other has a"pull clutch" If it comes to the worst I can either use a T piece bottom hose or blank it off with a big cork!

Yes, your mate is spot on re the flywheel and gearbox.
Hoses may be a bit of a cobble up I suppose, but not the end of the world. At least you get to keep those three braided hoses, those ones that are really easy to change (NOT!!)
