Xantia V6 engine oil quantity ?

Hi All,

Just trying to get some oil ordered for an oil change on the V6 and realised I don't know how many litres it takes Does anyone happen to know ? In the back of my mind I seem to remember its 5 litres, but I don't want to be half a litre short when I come to do the job...

And no, I do not have the owners manual - it was missing.

5 (ish) Simon, 5.25l is the dry capacity but just under five for a normal change is about on the money...

I put 4.5 litres in and then watch the dipstick carefully as I gradually top up from there..

Be aware the dipstick can be a bit (very) misleading at times and needs multiple wipes and dips to get the right result..

A 5 litre pack has always sufficed for me (with a bit to spare if the filter is not changed).

Thanks guys, that has jogged my memory - I remember now that the dry capacity is stated as 5.25 litres but when I changed the oil last time it only needed about 4.8 litres even though I changed the filter as well.

So a 5 litre bottle it is! (I will be changing the filter too)

I wouldn't be surprised if the 5.25 is based on the 406 spec with oil cooler (which there wasn't room for on the Citroens because of the hydraulic regulator)
