Cambelt

Post by Stevie Callaghan »

Hi,
I'm taking my 406 2.0 petrol for a change of cambelt. I've been told it will cost £190 all in. The mechanic said that although its a V-reg it has the older engine (probably because its an auto) thats tilted 17 degrees and takes 4 hours. It needs doing anyway as its done 138k and is still on the original belt. Is this price about right? is it a pig of a job? Comments appreciated.

I just had a cambelt fitted on my petrol 405 for £70 at a garage that I know does good work. That was the least expensive quote I got as well, although I would always pay a bit extra to know that the job is going to be done properly.

This was at a garage called Jackson's on Cambridge St in Manchester. I'll get the phone number if anyone would like it.

As someone living in Cambridge you had me excited there with the Cambridge St part of the address. But Manchester.. is a hell of a long way.
Oh well, I'll sound out some local garages..
Cheers
