dipatch 1.6 hdi 90 water leaking

Post by 12boreblue »

My first post, so be gentle!!

Just bought this vehicle, had it a week and it has sprung a leak. The leak is to the right of the turbo assembly and seems to be coming from a black box type assembly, sort of looks like a heat exchanger. But the actual heat exchanger is on the side. this is at the front, it has a bottle shape on the topside with a cap on it. so my questions are, does anyone know what it is and does, can anyone point me in the direction of a workshop manual or an engine diagram. Have spent hours online but just can't find any info.

Many thanks in advance. :)

Perhaps a picture would help?

Does it look like this? (fuel filter/heater)

I'm afraid you need to have the pics hosted on another site (I typically use photobucket) which gives easy to copy links to embed in places such as this forum.

I have no idea what that is (oil cooler or preheater perhaps?) but I'm sure someone will recognise it and let you know in due course. Thanks.

Yes, that's the oil cooler - the bit behind with the round bottle cartridge is the oil filter. Is it leaking from the join between the front finned part and the mount block (which includes the oil filter) or the mount block and the engine block? There are both water and oil channels in the cooler, and there are 4 O rings that seal the cooler to the mount block, and then a complex seal that seals the mount block to the engine block. If you post up the last 8 digits of the VIN, I'll find the part numbers and prices for the seals later.

Many thanks Richard.
It is where the finned block mounts the oil filter.

Do I need any special tools, and will I need to take the grill and radiator to do it?

Just had a reccy of offending item, noticed that there are 4 torx head bolts and one skinny threaded bolt with what looks like a male cross at the end. what is that and how do I get it off without damaging it?

Thank you

They are cheaper here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/CITROEN- ... 92643.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The ebay item is probably from a similar source....

Part number 110436 - can't get a price as the system is not working.... Seems to be the same part number for all 1.6 HDis.

Don't know about that bolt - had a look and ours is fitted with one - does it just have a Torx fitting in the end? They are not listed separately on service.citroen.

Yes think it is a male torx now you mention it, will have to get a set of female ones that go down to the smallest!

Many thanks
