Hey there!
I've to change the throttle cable on the C5. It's getting a bit stiff and I suspect it's gone a bit frayed. Got a replacement cable from the local motor factors and it's in a big bag of bits with quite unhelpful instructions spanning a load of models. Any tips on putting it together? The haynes is a bit vauge. Don't want to go pulling at the old one unless I've got all the bits.

If you can get away with it & the outer cable is ok just replace the inner part. Otherwise the best thing to do is remove the complete cable first & match up the bits you need, this will also mean you can cut to the right length easier too. The genuine citroen cable comes the same when you buy it, its a generic kit that covers nearly all models so you can have a few leftover bits that you dont need.

I never changed one. However they are easy to undo from the pedal position sensor. I then lifted the end up. Made a little funnel with tin foil. I filled it with bicycle oil and left it to work its way in overnight. No further problem for nearly 3 years.

Reminiscing a little.............Amazing how silky smooth a motorbike clutch or front brake cable gets, when its lubricated properly
