3 good things about my new car...

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Well here it is...

Image

1. Its good because of the things it doesn't have....no dpf and no need for Eolys, no dmf, no rear electric windows, no tachometer, no sat-nav, no automatic gearbox.

2. The three rear seats come out in seconds, no bolt undoing or anything and there you have a cavernous, van like space to do anything you want with, including turning it into an excellent "Camping-Car" with generous head room.

3. Its got a 2.0 HDi engine, and current tax is £145/year.

Don't know why I haven't considered them before, well pleased so far...

That's the exact same as the brand new Picasso I bought in 2002 pity my wife buggered off when it was a year old and it had to go.

and of course it came with one of these items, correctly identified by Davie on the whatsthisthenthread. Its the picasso's answer to avoiding the 5p plastic bag tax at the checkout, and so much more robust than your average "bag for life".

Have you driven it in the sun yet? The reflection of the dashboard is something else.... you used to be able to get covers, but I can't see any on the bay now. Seemingly there was an official Citroen one, but I doubt you could get one now.

Yes....I have noticed the reflections Richard but not too annoying just yet. Enjoying the new car and looking forward to its first camping trip :)

The Citroen one was available for free as a recall if the dash top was beige in colour. SWIMBO's 52 reg Picasso suffered with the reflections so she contacted Citroen who then fitted the cover which was a shaped piece of black plastic that just about stayed in place as the corners kept lifting

I can't remember my Picasso suffering from that. I can't even remember what colour the dash was. It was a 2002 hdi sx in wicked red. I think it had black rubber mats on the dash in shaped storage areas. I only had that car for a few months from new. Got it and within a year she took off and the car was on finance, so it had to go as I could not afford to keep on the payments. I was lucky the dealer took it back. It didn't cover the outstanding finance to sell to the dealer, but he sold it on commission for me, so I got enough to clear the finance. That was a good local citroen dealer which is sadly not on the go now. As yours is a wicked red one Neil, perhaps you could post a pic of the dash to remind me!

Ours wasn't helped by the supplying (used) dealer using cockpit shine on it! We had black felt stuck on it, but the sun bleached it beige - but at least it was matt!!

Check also the sills - they rot for fun on Picassos. Check that the drain holes (behind the inner flange) are clear, and be wary of any bubbling on the paint / cruchiness when pressed. If you look, you will see many with black sills these days, indicating they have been welded.
