01 xsara picasso 2.0 hdi imobiliser.

Post by turbom »

This car is fighting me!!!!!
Mot"d it yesterday, this morning failed to start just turned over and over.
I giggled the key and got it to start but had to stop it to lock the house as i had went in for the spare key
Now nothing now saying imobiliser fault.
Now is it the chip in the key thats at fault or the reader around the ignition barrel thats playing silly buggers??
Any help would be much appreciated and idea of cost.

Is it still turning over when its saying immobiliser fault ? If its doing the same thing with both keys then its unlikley to be a transponder chip fault. The aerials round the ignition barrels are fairly cheap (around £20 from memory) & easy to fit, no programming needed just plug & play.

Been looking on ebay only second hand ones on there and saying that they need reprogrameing?
Have contacted a seller that has one for the right year model etc.
Or is it a car one needs re programing???
As i don"t want to get one and it doesn"t work.

The aerials are 100% not programed to the car & you can use a second hand one no problem. There are 2 variations, with or without com2000, if yours is an 01 model ot will most likley not have com2000.
Have you checked the price new from Citroen ? You might just be surprised.

Who to trust, eBay or Wheeler? No contest there, when Wheeler makes a suggestion at a resolution I take it as read to be very accurate indeed.

You need it on a Lexia to see what it's upset about - you will need one anyway to try and re-program a key. Is it a Bosch injection, and can you hear the in tank pump running for a few seconds at key on?

Theres a problem with the pump had a guy come over with a diagnastic hand set went through it all and low fuel pressure to the injector pump.Banged the tank and it buzzed in to life and started it. stopped it after a while and it wouldnt go again so ordered a new in tank pump.
Does the tank have to be dropped or is there a access hole under the carpet??

I would take a look under the carpeting under the rear seats, to see if there is an access cover. There is on the Xantia and the MK1 C5.

I'm pretty sure that on a Picasso you need to drop the tank.

Did one of these years ago for a friend, the tank definitely has to be dropped. Sorry. It's not such a tricky job if you have ramps, and the tank is pretty empty though.
