Engine swap 1.8i to 2.0i

Post by CitroenFan92 »

Hi from Norway!

I have a quick question. Iv got a good deal on a engine change at a polish workshop for a engine change. I plan to get rid of my slow and underpowered 1.8 (oil thirsty too) to a more faster and reliable 2.0. The workshop set me up for a good deal, but they werent sure about a few things, which they wanted me to check out first.

First is, the transmission. Is it the same? (1.8 and 2.0) Where can I find out if it is?
Second is the drive axle. What difference is there?

Anyone have any expirience with engine changes on C5? Please write!

This is an early C5? You will probably find they use the same gearbox and therefore the same drive shafts.

Look after the 2.0 with good oil and regular changes - I have seen quite a few with issues upon cold starting caused by hydraulic lifters not working so well.

Thank you for the answere. My thoughts where the same, but im trying to reach out to the local Citroen dealers to ask them. They want to check the chassis number on my car to figure it out. They also told me they dont have much data on 2003 models left...shame..
