please advise which sphere is which under the bonnet on a xantia hydroactive 2.0 8v auto 1995

yes at the front on the engine there is two one with a electro vavle fitted on the block nearby

The one behind the radiator is HA front middle sphere. It's mounted on the stifness regulator (you will see two 10 mm pipes, connected to corner suspension cylinders, and some wire, leading to hydractive ECU).
Other, mounted on the pressure regulator, which is on the engine, is accumulator sphere.
