Rookie Error!

D'oh
Stupid stupid plonker I am- was fiddling around with my Bitron wiring yesterday and decided as the sun was momentarily shining I would fit my new droplinks I had ordered!. Up goes the front of the Xantia, off comes the wheel. Try undoing the droplinks using the allen key and spanner - yes it rounds off the allen key. Take out the angle grinder whiz off the old link.

Yep - you guessed it - opened my lovely new box and ........................wrong type drop link  I had ordered the ones with the 2 90 degree angled ends and I needed the ones with just one end angled!! Of course by this time, old link is on the ground in pieces!! Car stranded now up on a jack. What a numpty.

Always check the parts are right before destroying the old one!!!

Old Merc gets pressed into service as a standby and its abs light stays on! buts thats another story!

Why do cars "gang up" on you!!!

We all make "stupid" mistakes. The trick is to learn from them, and not repeat them. A family motto is "Intelligent people never make the same mistake twice. They find a new way to foul things up!".

I did almost the same. Came to fit new droplinks and found mine had the smaller sized ones, and the ones supplied were bigger. Phoned the factors to find they would be nearly £30 more for the pair and are order only.

I found a drill instead.
