Greetings,
Apologies for my 1st post being about a problem but I've searched all over the internet & can't find much (in English at least) about this.
Loving the 407 but for the second time since we bought it in March the "engine management system faulty" message has popped up with the exclamation mark.
Car running normally far as I can tell.
No diagbox (yet) but cheap OBDII reader shows no relevant codes.
Both times was a warm, sunny day & we cranked up the fan.
(shows how many warm days we get up here in Scotland!)
Lots of searching online keeps pointing me to the FAN CONTROL UNIT (presumably the same as the "fan resistor") but looks like a nightmare to get to behind the front bumper.
Is it a feasible place to start?
or should I be looking for a cooling fan relay first?
Will keep this post up to date until resolved, meanwhile any thoughts v much appreciated
"engine management system faulty" cooling fan control unit?

UPDATE: I gather the relays are in the same place anyway.
Anyone know where I can buy the relay & resistor? Seem to be in short supply on ebay but other models going for around £10 each seems pointless trying to service them.
I've also tried carparts4less & eurocarparts.

You need to get it on Diagbox to see what it is upset about. Whereabouts are you in Scotland - there are a few members with the kit that might be able to run a diag session for you.

Thanks RichardW, that'd be brilliant if possible.
I can travel to Dundee or Aberdeen easily (I'm in Montrose on the East coast) bit further if need be.
Thinking I should get diagbox at some point but I'd be starting from scratch so someone who knows what they're doing would be a huge help.

I know of Planet owners in St Monan's, Dunfermline and Falkirk, not sure if they're on this forum's map?

Thanks Richard & Gibbo, bit of a drive but I'll give them a nudge.
Just got back from a 200 mile trip. Joys of living here
On the plus side, car was perfect. I just know it'll be fault-free when plugged in
I'll post the results for future ref
