S2 XM, fitting a different head unit... help?

Hi all.

I've got hold of a JVC cd head unit that i'd like to fit to my P reg S2 XM.. but what adaptor do I need? I'd like to keep the radio display and steering wheel controls if poss.

The model number is KD-G801

Radio display is a non starter as far as I'm aware, I've never come across any kind of adapter for it so presumably it's a one off interface. Autoleads do steering wheel interfaces but the only one I tried didn't work despite trying various suggestions by Autoleads technical support. I got the impression some brands of head unit are easier to interface. An alternative is a wired remote like the one Sony did a few years ago, it was like a stubby 'wash/wipe' control that could be mounted onto the steering column shroud. It worked great.
