C3 Picasso Gear knob removal

Hi All
Can anyone tell me how to remove the gear knob from my 2010 C3 Picasso, I have a new leather one to fit but cannot see how the old one comes off.

It could well be like many modern gear knobs. They are pushed onto a splined shaft. They just need to be pulled off, but beware, if you get hold of it and lift as hard as you can, the natural trajectory will be somewhere around your forehead!
The old screw on ones with a locking nut underneath seem to be long gone.
Just brute force nowadays I think.
Could be wrong, and no doubt someone will be along soon to give the definitive answer.
