Xantia steering high pressure supply pipe

Post by rory_perrett »

The part number for the high pressure supply pipe from the HP pump to the steering rack for a Xantia Hdi series 2 is different from that for the 2.1td series 2. I have a relatively new one that was fitted to my old 2.1td and need to replace the one on my Hdi. Does anyone know what the difference is? On initial inspection the only difference I can see is some of the fixing brackets are the opposite way round, the end fittings look the same. Does anyone know if it will fit the Hdi. I suspect I will wreck the one on the Hdi in the process of getting it off and if the 2.1td one doesn't fit I'm going to be stuffed.

Don't know about the fittings, but one of the specialists (Plyides ? ) can repair/alter them, seen it posted I think

The metal supply pipe to the front where it goes to the rubber flex is identical on all..

The difference here to pump.. the rubber flex to gear box then goes back to a metal pipe and it's this metal pipe that isxshaped differently depending which gearbox is fitted and the shape of the metql pipe at that side to go round the regulator. .

See the for sale section. User mardybum offered a replacment pipe fix kit, which with this should be possibly to apply and fix the pipe to model as its copper pipe work which is easilly shaped..

I'm going to answer my own question. The high pressure power steering pipe that goes from the HP pump to the rack off a 2.1td Xantia can be made to fit an Hdi.
"Made to" is the phrase - subtle differences in where the bends are, their angles, the position of the brackets etc means that when you try and fit it to the car it is totally wrong. However with time and a pipe bender it can be made to fit.

hope it lasts then Rory

as i find the larger diameter steel hydraulic pipes citroen use do not like being bent from the shape they were from the factor,
as this tends to weaken the seem down the length of the pipe

Sorry, been away for a while driving brand new PSA vehicles around a rather large yard, and attempting to rebuild the rear hydraulics on my Xantia.

Kits are still available, sale thread is in the sale section, but the pictures don't work currently.
