Xsara Picasso rear wipe - mind of its own

Unread post by rmunns »

Recently a problem has started to annoy me - the rear wiper comes on when it hasn't been directed to. Even opening the rear lid can start it going. If I'm at the boot end, then just pushing the wiper to its rest position stops it and it might then be ok for a week or two. It has been known to come on when the ignition key isn't in the ignition!

I can't be sure whether this might be related to the problem. I recently had a towbar fitted and maybe in fitting the electrics the garage have disturbed something?

Check the wiring where it passes from the car to the tailgate, it can snap inside the umbilical and short at random.

I had a brand new Berlingo Multispace that did this, the dealer never managed to sort it out. :(
