It was originally listed as an auction with a buy it now price of 99p - which I assumed was obviously a mistake and it would be pointless anyone doing the BIN because it would only end up as a protracted argument escalated to eBay - no-one comes out a winner, so why bother starting it!
Evidently a few people either did try it, or contacted the guy though because it resulted in the price then being changed to £1m and correctly listed as a classified ad, with a sarky statement at the bottom of the listing...
Anyway, what I didn't get was the whole "it's a classified ad" but "price on application". I also was genuinely interested to see how much the guy really did want for it - it might have been a bargain and I would like a 2.4EFI (my dads favourite CX was a Manual Pallas 2.4 EFI that he had when I was young, so I have a soft spot for that engine
So I dropped him a message;
This was the response I got back;Hi, if it's a classified ad, why not put the price in the ad? What is all this 'price on application' all about?!

I sincerely hope this helps you understand, there are also on-line courses in the English language you may wish to consider.
With hindsight maybe I worded my question a little bluntly - I just happened to write it in a hurry on the train. But anyway, great way of encouraging a potential buyer that was just asking a straight forward question, eh?!
It did get my hackles up though - the last comment particularly. So I replied, thinking it might give him a clue that both the tone of his ad and his response wasn't going to do him much luck in selling the car.
Apparently though, I'm the one being rude?!I sincerely hope you get a lot better at trying to sell cars then, because this is one avid car collector (15 at the moment, including 6 CXs) that sure as hell won't be dealing with someone like you!
And erm yep - obviously it's unreasonable to expect the price of something that's for sale, to be included in the advert huh?It is my choice to put POA on an advert, you come on demanding an explanation for that, saying I should be putting a price on the ad, when it is entirely my choice. It sounds like I am the lucky one that my reply has prompted your decision never to annoy me again! There are lots of genuine people who phone or e-mail without your rudeness and if it continues I will report you to eBay.
Anyway, putting this up so if there is anyone else on here that might be interested in the car, they can make their own mind up before contacting him as to whether it's someone you might like to deal with...
