Citroen xantia S1 steering wheel audio controls

Can any help as to why my car now when I turn the steering wheel sometimes turns the volume up on the radio? You cannot turn it down on radio front when this happens. Help it's driving me mad!

Probably a short circuit in the rotary connector that carries the signals to the steering wheel. Usually the airbag circuit fails first, bringing on the warning light, and the volume control next.

Unfortunately Citroen don't supply replacements now, so you need to find a good used one. The same part was used from 96 until 99.

In the short term you could disconnect the connector (the black one not the orange one) under the steering column, but on a mk1 you need to remove the steering wheel to do this.

Turn off AF and ta, if it stops it the setting for vol adjust on ta needs lowering. If not then what xantia_v6 said. I can't remember how to adjust the ta, but its in the manual, I can look it up later on if you need.

My car did kept turning up ages ago, took me a while to work it put.

Sorry, I just realised you probably have a different radio to me. I assumed you have mk1.
