The systems are almost identical. So NEARLY a straight swap if the S1 has the wiring (and I think all V6s probably do). BUT they swapped 2 pins on the cruise ECU, and plugging in the wrong one will blow some transistors in the cruise ECU. Jim worked this out when he got his XM V6.

You also need to fit a three wire brake switch (same one as manual XMs with cruise) and clutch pedal switch if not already fitted, the clutch switch are standard PSA and are fairly frequently available on ebay, maybe even from the dealer.

Only exclusive spec got cruise, and Sticky's Activa is not quite exclusive spec (you can probably only tell because it does not have exclusive door trim panels).

But you might have a clutch or brake switch going spare? I am sure you could buy forgiveness

An issue that you might come across is that cruise was only available on Xantia V6 and 2.0 auto's so how easy will it be to mount a clutch pedal switch and/or whether the Xantia cruise ECU requires a clutch switch is something to consider.

Some LHD Xantia had cruise and clutch switches, so there should be no great problem.

Correct, this would be from the V6 Exclusive to my V6 Activa.

I need to go up and list just what is installed and what I will need to source......but it should be all of what WAS installed, nothing has been junked yet.

?? where is the ECU/control box bolted

.........I can take the brake peddle switch from the V6Excl
.........I can take the Steering wheel stalk from the V6 Excl

? ? what else do I need from the V6 (last-8 : 72252982)

I will speak to Jim about the wires..........

I am not sure, I never needed to access one. Maybe under the passenger seat in a Mk1, somewhere else I think on a Mk2. Jim knows...

Good luck making that fit! (It will become obvious when you remove one)
Stickyfinger wrote: ? ? what else do I need from the V6 (last-8 : 72252982)
You obviously need the pump from under the LH corner of the front bumper and the bellows from the throttle body. Also the isolation switch from the dashboard (although the Mk2 switch wont match your other switches cosmetically).

There is also a relay (might be a special purple one?) which on a Mk2 is under the dash somewhere (you can hear it click as you drive along with the cruise actuated), but on a Mk1 (RHD) it is located in the relay box under the RH wing rear of the wheel (a bit fiddly to get to).

The Mk1 steering column shroud has the mounting bosses for the stalk and it is obvious where to cut the hole (the Mk2 shroud wont fit).

You might need to fabricate a bit of harness to connect the clutch switch in series with the cruise circuit of the brake switch I have not worked out how that is organised (OK, I should go downstairs and look at my XM).

You would be better off getting the bits from a manual XM with cruise. If an xm 2.5 is being broken they have the clutch and brake pedal switches as default even if cruise wasn't installed :)

I've got the brake and clutch pedal switch from a 2.5 XM somewhere, I bought it from someone breaking one on Club-xm when I was doing my Activa conversion. Unfortunately my Activa didn't have any of the cruise control wiring loom in it and I wasn't going as far as swapping the entire main loom from the cars so I just left it. Can't say it really bothers me for the 7-800 miles a year that the car does.

Think it's in a storage box in the garage somewhere...

mega input gents...cheers

I was beginning to think that way David, it seems a lot of dash/wires/control/pumps to bother about it for limited miles.

If the loom /connectors is fitted, what does it look like/connector colours ?

If you look above the brake pedal you'll see a spare plug, I couldn't see this on mine.

I ended up taking the centre console out of the Activa (5 minute job) to see if the ECU connector was under the rear window switches. When that wasn't there I threw everything cruise control related in a box and didn't bother.
