307 HDI 1.6 EEEK!

Post by Stewart(oily) »

I have been tasked with making my BILs 307 HDI run again, my cheapo code reader gives me 1351 and 1445 which relate to glow plugs and Eolys overflowing ??? It just sort of stalled ! and will not start at all, I cleaned a lot of contacts replaced the fuel filter and it ran last week, but then stopped again, the electrics also appear to be pi55ing about, occasional windows and brake lights staying on, HELP ! when it runs it is fine!

I would check the condition of the battery. It is known that on Citroen C series cars a failing battery can cause all sorts of strange problems, as the electronics need a good power supply. I wonder if you are having this issue. Failing that, look on the following link to see if any forum members with Lexia kit can help, as they can normally ready Citroen/Peugeot cars with a greater deal of accuracy and information;

Thank you for the link, unfortunately no-one near me, the battery is a fairly new large one and is fully charged, cranking speed is good, I hate being in the dark.

Start at the beginning.
Look at live data, it can be viewed on most eobd readers. In live data check the rpm while cranking. If rpm stays at zero check out the crankshaft sensor. A faulty cam sensor can prevent the engine from starting but does not usually cause it to stop once it is running.
The other thing to check in live data is the rail pressure frp. Too low and it will not start. A loss of pressure will also cause the engine to stall. Too high and it stalls but will usually restart after a while.
