Xantia HDI Gearbox

Post by trsaab »

I have recently purchased a 1999 HDI and found selecting 3rd and 5th in particular to be difficult. Local Citroen garage said oil was contaminated by water getting in through the breather. They drained and refilled and it cured the problem. With todays rain the problem is back. Anybody else had this problem and know of a fix - block the breather seems a bit drastic but ant suggestions please.

Seems a simple deflector plate of some kind needs be installed.
Or simply a breather with a longer pipe under the breather cap.
What about clutch cable adjustment - does the clutch pedal rests sufficiently high over the carpets ?

That's what I thought, with a pipe going above splash level.
Clutch sits Ok, I don't think the cable is adjustable, I'll check when it stops raining.

Simply try first if the breather cap is easy to remove - then if a lenght of PVC garden hose will fit over the stud - cap fitted on hose end.
... then sue the garage if they ever remove it [;)]
