Unread post by whatdoesthisbuttondo »

Hi, I'm going to do the service myself, but I don't know how to reset the service warning message...surely I don't need a lexia??! Any advice gratefully received.

One of the X7 owners will be along soon but on my older model you press the little stalk on the right of the instrument panel then turn on the ignition and wait for it to count down.
Yours may be the same. It's the same button used to reset the trip odometer.

The handbook says the following:

If you are carrying out the service yourself, the procedure for resetting to zero is as follows:
- Switch off the ignition, then move the key to position S, anti-theft.
- Press on button A (the 000 button on the instrument panel for resetting the trip mileage) and keep it pressed.
- Switch on the ignition. The instrument panel screen counts down from 10 to 0 and displays the maintenance symbol.
- Hold down button A until the zero appears and the maintenance symbol disappears.
- Switch off the ignition.

Make sure all the doors are closed, it doesn't work with a door open (i found out the hard way).
