Hi Folks, I have searched a few past posts about this but just had a query as to the best way forward. I had noticed the past year that I had been hearing more "road noise" through the front passenger door on my 99 Xant estate. I have also noticed that the bottom of the leading edge of the door is now catching the front wing and the top right corner is catching the rear door, so my hinges are obviosuly drooping. I notice that vertical movement of the door is significant when it is almost closed but not as noticeable with the door fully ajar. Wierdly there is no apparent sign of the hinge being corroded or having detached. They both look completely fine. When this happened with my BX estate ,the hinge quite noticably parted company! I cant really tell if its the upper or lower hinge that is at fault either. Noticed an aussie frogs forum showing a rivet repair, although he removed the door.Would hefty self tappers do the same, if they get through to the underlying pillar? I do weld and happy to have a go at this too and read about using a wooden wedge to support the door.
Any tips greatly received.
Cheers
Alan

Try jacking the front of the door up, using a length of wood to spread the load.

Re: Xantia Estate Door Drop Issue
I had this problem with my Xantia Estate '98. As far as I know it is a welding failure during production with in a certain period. Mine failed already when the car was 4-5 years old. It was the FRONT LEFT side door and the BOTTOM hinge.

Hope this helps.

Re: Xantia Estate Door Drop Issue
Sorry to hear you've got this Alan. When I had the red S1 TD it had a dropped drivers door. I had a company in Hamworthy, Dorset recommended to me and they sucessfully welded the hinges back into the proper position. I never had a problem after that.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Xantia Estate Door Drop Issue
You need to establish where the movement is. I had trouble with one where the hinge was coming away from the door. Could also just be a failed hinge pin. Some hope
