C4 VTS - advice please.

Post by Northern_Mike »

So, say I were to go looking at an 05 plate C4 VTS, what would those of you who have had them tell me to look for. I know it had a timing belt and waterpump done by a dealer last year, I know it has 4 good matching tyres and MOT until September. I know nothing else about them at all..

The engine and drivetrain are well proven, I'd check whether it's had a clutch if driven hard. A decent hottish hatch, I have been tempted myself in the past. Davie will be along shortly I'm sure and fake concern who still runs one with big miles on.

I have a feeling the car I'm interested in might have once belonged to someone on here. I know it currently belongs to CarlosV8, who I don't think has been on here for a while, but I think he might have bought it off someone on here - reg is M666 xxx, and it's a black 05 plate VTS.

I'm 99% sure I'd buy it if the seats don't kill me. I was going to have a look at it today, but I made the mistake of trying to drive the TT just in case the physio was wrong about it. He wasn't. It's ok if I sit bolt upright but..

That was one on here, captain slow I think he sold it and went back to an activa. I'm quite sure if you find his blog you will see he did a bit of work to it and got it up to scratch. He did get a cambelt and water pump done and a modification to the tailgate wiring as far as i remember. My clutch had a very slight judder at 65000 miles, just on taking off. Absolutely nothing else to report with mine. Check out c4 owners club, they are a bit strange but a wealth of info.

As Davie says, look on C4owners for the buyers guide & everything else you could possibly want to know http://c4owners.org/plugins/content/con ... content.30
M666 belonged to Captain Slow who liked it a lot. I think it had been Cat C or D write off. He spent lots of cash on it, but didn't use it much.

I still love mine, I bought it with 90000 miles & it now has 163000. Not much has gone wrong with it, very comfy seats (although this one has leather my last one had the X ray & alcantara and they are better in some ways as you don't slide about!).

Feel free to ask me any questions about it.

I've just read through it again. He did a lot to that car getting it up to speed just over a year or so ago. Most bits that need replacement got replaced. I think it would be a decent one to buy if it is a reasonable price.

I sold my 07 with 67k for 2400 just over a year ago, and it was unmarked. I saw it for sale a month or so ago and the guy asking 3k. He would t get that. I would think an 05 plate, good nick maybe 1500 to 1800. That's pure guesswork though!

You'll love it!

They are (in my opinion) properly quirky Citroens inside & out.

That for me was one of the best bits of it, with the digital dash and red rev counter. When you get it red you will find out how addictive that is!
