help needed with throttle potentiometer

Post by edd001 »

hi to all
in my last post i put about iratic idle so today i took off the throttle potentiometer and had a good clean all round.
the only problem now is that although the iratic idle has gone she dose not like idleing at all now and keeps stalling unless i keep the revs up.
any ideas would be a great help.
cheers to all

Ok Edd -
What you in fact has done - is the same procedure as replacing the throttle potientiometer.
AFAIR the ECU does not like to have this device disconnected - as it sort of looses the "zero" position.
If I remember correct - you need to reset the ECU - by disconnecting the battery for at least 1/2 an hour.
To do this - you need your radio code - as this will also be lost.
Don't know if you also get in trouble with the car alarm code.
I think it's best you wait untill some of the other experienced Xantia owners have a chance to comment on this [:I]
