My 97 1.9 TD is soon going in to be looked at as there is a strange vibration at 16-1800 rpm and there is no kick when the turbo comes in. Though it does have some oomph after 2500rpm which is alot past the usual of 1500rpm. I have checked the hoses for leaks but nothing was found so presume the fault lay elsewhere.

I have just gone through the process of buying my company car which is the Cit Xantia 1.9TD. I replaced the injectors which were well past their sell by date (110k miles) plus the air & fuel filters. The difference in performance and general smoothness of operation is quite surprising and the injector with the lift sensor was not working properly which screwed up the control circuits a fair bit.
All of this was a bit expensive but shop around a bit and savings can be made. Hope the check through proves worth while and informative.[:)]
