I used to get parts from them, twenty odd years ago, longtime dealer I think.

Border motors was Citroen in saltney for many years. Now regrettably a National Tyre depot! I know one of there mechanics went mobile but has for many a year now been based in Aldford just out side Chester. His name is Keith Davis and cannot recommend him highly enough for our older pride and joys!
Wish I could buy a rover 3500 for £254 now! That must have been a bit of a culture shock for Mr Cooper from Rover 3500 to a little Visa!

I've just found this post in a search for Border Motors Saltney, so not sure how relevant it still is.
My first job was at Border Motors in their parts department. I was there from March 1980 until June 1982. After that, I remained in the motor trade and still dealt with them until the mid 1990s.
In 1980 Border Motors (later known as The Border Motor Company Ltd) was both a Citroen and Datsun main dealer. The Saltney premises housed the parts and service departments for both franchises as well as the Datsun showroom. The Citroen showroom was in Chester (only a few miles from Saltney) in Northgate street. I was in Chester today and visited the places I remember, including the former Northgate street showroom - now a retail shop. As previously mentioned the Saltney premises is now a National Tyre Depot and there is also a storage unit there too. I still have the letters inviting me for interview on Citroen headed paper and the letter offering me the job on Datsun headed paper.
The owner sold the company around 1985 to a former employee - a Datsun salesman, and his business partner. They finished with Datsun (now Nissan), but continued with Citroen. Obviously, this meant the Northgate street showroom closed as it moved to Saltney. Regular warranty claims for Citroen were 'speedo ticks' when we had to replace the speedo head on GS and GSAs. Citroen back then were simply the best cars I have ever driven. Mechanic Keith Davis has been mentioned and I remember him well and still dealt with him after our Border days were over. I believe Border Motors started in the mid 1970s but whether Citroen or Datsun were first I'm not sure. The second owners continued for many years after.
