It's one of the fixed types, but to be honest, doesn't look like genuine Citroen to me (at least not from the Accessory catalog) ... why are there 2 sockets for the trailer (one black one white)? The genuine wiring kit only has one (the only difference being 7 or 13 pin)

Re: C5 X7 Towbar fitting instructions and ?
yes mate, I am sure it is not a Citroen issue, it was £20
Even if it has some surface rust the welds etc are very good, machine made or a very neat hand for a 12 year old.
Just wondered about fitting instructions if anybody knows the design....
QQ ??, quickest way with rear bumper off ?

I can upload the bumper removal if necessary, it's simple, but not that simple actually (some cutting required on the lower spoiler)

Looks like a Witter bar to me. Fitting instructions, inc bumper removal: Here
Electrics you will just have to make the best of - does it look like a plug in job? I wouldn't bother with the grey socket, unless you plan a bit of shed dragging

Richard....SPOT on mate....thanks.
I have a "smart" relay box coming with the bar....will have my friend up the road wire it in for me and check the fitting for safety sake.

Re: C5 X7 Towbar fitting instructions and ?
Hey guys
I just bought a towing bar for my C5 X7 (estate) . It's Brink - hidden under the bumper, when folded. I've got the additional ECU and the harness. Looks OEM...
Everything linked with the installation is clear, except wires route. I don't see holes, caps in the trunk or close to the ECU module in the back (guess that's Trailer relay unit, because I see it in DiagBox) .
So, do I need to drill a hole somewhere?
Thank you in advance!

Re: C5 X7 Towbar fitting instructions and ?
Hi,
Just seen your post.
We have 2013 X7 Tourer (Estate). It has a factory fitted tow bar and the wiring is cable tied on top of the tow bar and passes towards the exhaust. It then passes through a right angle forward behind a plastic cover, at this point it will be vertically under the tail light, it does not appear in the boot or spare wheel well. I would guess that it comes into the car behind the small stowage pocket adjacent to the wheel arch.
I think with the bumper off and or the interior trim removed you will have more visibility of any suitable grommet.
Hope that helps
Andy.

If it can happen it will.

Re: C5 X7 Towbar fitting instructions and ?
Original PSA units have instructions for fitting all the components - but without knowing the type you have I can't help you as there were different electrical harnesses depending on options and for certain vehicles. If you put your VIN up here, I can narrow it down a bit to the official options for the X7 and your build date and provide you with a link to PDF instructions that may help.XUD9 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2020, 18:09 Hey guys

Re: C5 X7 Towbar fitting instructions and ?
Guys, towbar installed!
Rear bumper was removed, also all carpets and plastics in the trunk. There are a coupe of holes from the factory, covered with strong tape, but too small...
So I decided to drill another one as Andy said - behind the tail light, at the bottom. Parking sensors wires are "coming inside" the same place, but on the left side, under the left tail light.
The hole was covered with primer, just in case. I found a rubber seal for the harness, like the one for the parking sensors. The ECU and all connectors matched perfectly. Now I'm ready for towing the Traction Avant ))
