Xsara Picasso 1.8 Steering pressure sensor fluid leak

Unread post by Keith J »

Hi,

Did a search and couldn't find a specific answer to my question. My missus owns a 1.8 petrol 2001 Xsara Picasso which seems to be leaking steering fluid from where the pressure sensor screws into the upright metal pipe on the power steering pipework. I assume that there is simply a rubber O ring in that seals the joint between the sensor and the nut in the pipework that it screws into? Is this correct, because I believe that I may be able to just replace the O ring if that is the case. I don't want to have it all apart and get fluid everywhere to find that I am wrong. Secondly can anyone tell me the correct sized spanner for the sensor. I assume from the spanners that I own that it's a 20 or 21mm. I don't own one of that size so will have to buy one.

Thanks in advance for your help!

All the best

I have found the spanner size of 21mm, so would just appreciate knowing if it is an O ring or possibly a washer that seal this joint. Cheers.

Keith

Is it down near the pinon valve on the rack? If so then it looks like a std O-ring (Cit says 14x1.9 so I would assume that's 14mm Dia, 1.9mm section):
Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00004048H5 HYD OIL O-RING 1.37 GBP 1.64 GBP 1.64 GBP
