Citroen Synergie 1.9td 1997
Gentlemen,
I need help. I have just bought a Synergie.
When I went to look at the car it was running ok. Now the thing will not start.
I've searched the net but can't find any Electrical diagrams which would be helpful.
The dashboard lights seems ok but the stop light is flashing.
When I turn the key there is nothing not even a click.
Any help would be great!

Yeh I'd agree, but the flashing STOP light has thrown me... What immobiliser is on the Synergie, transponder (in the key, requires no input except to put the key in) or keypad?RichardW wrote:Battery got to be the first suspect...

First things first though I'd definitely check/substitute the battery for a known good one & while I was there I'd also check the terminal clamps and wiring for corrosion or damage, in particular checking the positive wires are secure in the clamp & that the earths are making a sound connection either end.

Re: Citroen Synergie 1.9td 1997
Thanks Gents. I'll have another go at it tonight. If I had a wiring diagram that would be a big help. Will try the direct approach later.
The battery is fine. The connections seem fine and I'm getting good earth continuity.
Would I have these symptoms with a faulty starter solenoid?

Re: Citroen Synergie 1.9td 1997
maybe its the immobilisers, try locking and unlocking it a couple of times,
i know you say there's not even a click when trying to crank it over, but you could try clonking the starter whilst someone is turning the key

Gentlemen,
Back on the car for a short period. When trying to crank the the car there is no voltage to the starter solenoid.
Does anyone have the electrical diagram for the starter circuit?
Thanks....

Re: Citroen Synergie 1.9td 1997
i dont know if there is a plug connector under/near the battery tray, as there is on the likes of the BX is has a large plug connector under the battery tray were the engine loom connects to the main loom,
not so long ago i when out to a BX that would not start, they had had the AA out a couple of times, the second of which they were told it needs a new starter, all the AA person needed to do as a test was to run a live straight from the positive on the battery to the starter solenoid feed terminal,
i found the terminal that feeds the solenoid had corroded, so a cut the wire off both sides of the plug connector, and fitted new lucar terminals, bongo job done
when i use this test i connect the jump wire at the solenoid end, then touch the other end onto the positive on the battery,

Re: Citroen Synergie 1.9td 1997
Update.....found the first fault! Ever so slightly dodgy ignition barrel. When the ignition is turned to position 3 the key needs a little extra manipulation to engage. Now it's turning over Its not catching. I then get a big puff of white smoke and nothing. The previous owner said the glow plugs were done. Any ideas?
Also I made a boo boo. I took the idle arm off the pump and lost the little cream coloured ring. It's aost impossible to get the arm back on. Can I take the three retaining bolts out and disconnect the fuel pipes and twist the pump round to get better access?
Cheers andy

If youre getting smoke then there is fuel getting in there. Are the glowplugs energising? As the XUD and deretives are pigs to start with dodgy plugs/relays.

Re: Citroen Synergie 1.9td 1997
Hi! Got the old bus started and the once the smoke cleared it seemed to run fine. I put the clamp meter on the supply to the glow plugs and it was not pulling any amperage. I then bridged out the glow plug relay but still appeared to pull nothing which is strange. At least it's progress.
My last remaining issue is the last owner had a wiring issue that resulted in a quick fix and wired the fuel stop valve directly to the battery. Does anyone have any diagram of the Bosch injector pump and where the wiring comes from to supply the stop valve?
Cheers

Does the glow plug relay click in with the ignition and the dash light?
