Small request: TUD5 vs TUD5B

Post by spider »

:)
I only have a sluggish connection at the moment, I wonder if someone would be kind enough to check ServiceBox for me, I want to confirm or not that the high pressure pipes are different for a TUD5 compared to a TUD5B unit please.

My tech data indicates they are not but I'm not really convinced as its not complete. I'm merely thinking along the lines of the DW8 WJX vs DW8 WJY (ie early mechanical advance pump vs electronic one) as the pipes *are* different with these.

I expect the same for the TUD5B as that has electronic advance.

I could be wrong though...

I do not need this info in any hurry in fact its just something that's been nagging in my mind for a while.

Thanks.
Andy.

it seem its just the difference between Lucas and Bosch mechanical pumps

can you tell me a specific pug model that uses the pumps you are inquiring about

TUD5B only lists the Bosch pump and pipes, which are the same part number as the TUD5 (1570 65).

strange theres no listing for the lucas pump on 5Bs!

The TUD5B are all Bosch, sorry Chinkostu I should of probably mentioned that. :)

Malcolm, if you look at a later 106D or Saxo 1.5D (2000 onwards) you'll see they are the TUD5B (the one with the ECU sat on the battery), I think this change occured the same time they went to the digital odometer, ie the one with the service spanner counter as well. Around 2000.

If you take a random example (bear with me) look at an early 206 DW8 (98 model) and make a note of the pipe numbers, then look at a 99 or 2000 one and you'll see its different. I know if you change the pump to the early mech one on one of these you need the pipes as well as the 'firing' (for want of a better word!) is different.

I just wanted to be sure the TUD5B and the TUD5 bosch pipes were the same for both, I thought they may be different given the DW8's are, ie early mech advance pump vs later electronic advance pump.

I hope that makes some sense. :)
Andy.

Part number stays the same so i think they don't change.

The DW8 could have any one of 3 pump and pipe arrangements! Mines the s**t lucas semi-tractor...sorry, semi electronic

Thanks, that's exactly what i mean. I only picked the DW8 as I *knew* that had two arrangements for the same Lucas pump depending on it being mechanical or electronic advance.

Its the TUD5 I'm interested in, if the mechanical Bosch or the later (2000 on) electronic Bosch share the same pipes. :)

Yea the bosch numbers are the same over tud5 and tud5b. Must be the same pump housing with modifications.

Part of me really wants to mod my DW8b back to a DW8 using a bosch pump, but it will cost more than the car is worth to retrofit, although I have to admit my Xantia is A LOT quieter and thats running a bosch pump

Easy source (well kind of) for a Bosch DW8 (as most seem to be Lucas) is a very early DW8 equipped 306, so you're looking for a T or V plate one. Certainly the early ones had the mechanical advance pump on these. Pipes needed as well as pump.
