The car is crunching/popping on full lock left while driving forward and full lock when reversing to the right. It feels like it is coming from the drivers side and I suspect this is the drivers side cv joint. Is there a way to tell if the inner joint is also duff as I can get a replacement driveshaft for £35 quid but would rather do the outer cv joint for £15 if the inner tripode joint is good.

Re: popping on full lock left and full lock reversing right
It's unlikely to be inner joint - this hardly moves on lock, more flex is taken up here as the suspension rises and falls. If you jack it up and rotate the wheel on lock you may well hear / see the joint complaining. Recently did one on my 307 for the same reason - had a bit of difficulty getting the joint back on....
