Comm 2000 Peugeot 406

Post by johnway »

Hi everyone,
Diagnostic check has revealed my airbag fault lies with tag 2 open circuit on the comm 2000 unit. Now as it is also suffering from indicator problems I feel the time is right to replace the unit with either a reconditioned or brand new part. My question is this : would a replacement part have to be programmed to my car ? A supplier is telling me that his supplied unit would be pre-programmed and calibrated for my car, thus saving main dealer costs. I am a bit bemused by this, having had parts installed in the car before any programming etc. was necessary for them to work. Any advice greatly appreciated.
All the best,
John.

There is a guy in Bradford who repairs the units. He has a fast turn around time. Ask citronut, as he has recently (this month) used him.

John

Com2000 fitting only requires calibration if the car is fitted with ESP - you need to re-calibrate the steering angle sensor. If it doesn't then the COM2000 is plug and play. Note, I suspect that even if you have yours repaired, and you have ESP, then it may need re-calibration when it comes back. There are people on here with Lexia / Pug Planet that can probably do it if there is someone nearby to you http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 19&t=29178" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks Richard. Excuse my ignorance on the subject but how would I know if my car is fitted with ESP or not? It is an Executive model with a lot of "toys" etc. but I have not come across this acronym before.

Many thanks,
John.

Normally a car fitted with an 'Electronic Stability Program' has a button to switch it off (by default it is on). I have seen this denoted with ESP or a icon of a car with wavy lines.

Peugeot may call the ESP program by a different name; the initials ASR seem to be used. I just did a search for Peugeot 406 2002 Exclusive, and ASR was mentioned as part of the toys.

here is Greame Halls ebay listing link

he is very very helpful,

he has even offered to have the one he just sorted the indicating/head lamp fault out on, the have it back to sort the no fog light fault for FREE,

as he nor i or the owner were not aware this fault existed, till i re/fitted it to the car and checked through all its functions,

very fast turn around though, we sent it off to him Royal mail guaranteed next day delivery, on him receiving it he repaired it and sent it straight back out the very same day, i had it back around 11 am'ish on the third day,

he also has a very good phone back up support, and will go through any questions step by step,

maybe we ( Stevey baby :-D  ) can stick the link in the super stickies pages
