407 having to soft reset key remotes alot!

Post by knightsbane »

hi

i have tried searching but cant find anything exactly like this problem, but apologies if i have missed it

i have a 54 reg 407 sw 2.0 diesel, and it keeps losing the sync on the remote keys (i have 2 and it happens to both of them)

to get them working again i have to go through the soft reset procedure, which works fine, both keys then work again....

but it seems to be happening more and more often now, and as this is the wifes car for work and school runabout it is getting a bit of a pain when it happens,

when it first happened it lasted ages before it did it again, but im fairly sure the time is getting shorter between it happening, now its lasts about a week or so before it loses the sync again

it opens with the mechanical key, starts straight away and doesn't say anything about being economical mode so assume its not the battery causing it,

its been doing this for a while now, since before summer,

thank you for any help

I would change the battery in one of them just to be sure. I believe that there is some kind of aerial receiver behind the dash somewhere for the remotes.
