What jobs does your car need in 2015 for you to be happy?

Post by dei9 »

Hi all,

So 2015 is looming, what jobs do YOU need to do to your car for you to be happy with it? We all have things we just don't bother doing, thinking I'll do it next weekend or I'll do it when I have the money or that can wait. Be aware that I will be picking your brains about the list below.
Here is my list:
- A thorough external wash and wax
- New rear wiper blade
- Sort out the pissy washer jets
- Service (oil/filter change, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter)
- Check it over on a Lexia computer
- 6 new suspension speheres all round (the accumulator and antisink are fine, it doesn't tick often at all and it doesn't sink at all).
- Check the hydractive computer for fried transistors (had that before on old xantia).
- Do the diode mod.
- Check the engine sensors (EGR/turbo pressure, what citroenxm suggested before)
- New Drop links
- Possible bottom arm or whatever causes the judder and flapping noise at 1st and 2nd gear.
- Investigate the flywheel, it sounds a bit weird (could be related to the above).
- Replacement gearknob.
- New key, the buttons inside the key (microswitches) broke off and it's too fiddly to solder it back on.

Other things, I'd like to do but doesn't bother me too much, a new radio with bluetooth, upgrade the speakers, phone holder and charging cable. Change trim from wood to silver. Interior carepts. Other than the list, I'm quite happy with it.

Now your turn.

Here is my list:
- A thorough external wash and wax Surely you can do this yourself... :rofl2:
- New rear wiper blade This too im sure ... :rofl2:
- Sort out the pissy washer jets This is highly likely to be crap in the jets from inside the washer tubes
- Service (oil/filter change, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter)
- Check it over on a Lexia computer
- 6 new suspension speheres all round (the accumulator and antisink are fine, it doesn't tick often at all and it doesn't sink at all). Anti sink sphere is just not that, anti sink is controled by a valve at the back not the sphere...
These are SOLID flywheel, NOT dual mass like C5's so it will be either Clutch or Bottom Crank Pully
- Replacement gearknob.
- New key, the buttons inside the key (microswitches) broke off and it's too fiddly to solder it back on. I can do this if they aint that bad, however, theres a few S2 keys about the place!!

Other things, I'd like to do but doesn't bother me too much, a new radio with bluetooth, upgrade the speakers, phone holder and charging cable. Change trim from wood to silver. Interior carepts. Other than the list, I'm quite happy with it.

Got a few Silver Trim panels here too and glove box's!!!!

Hope you got deep pockets! Dont come over with nothing, else you go home with nothing... :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

With a little bit of care and modification (and a couple of big bits) and you could try an X12! Mind you, the power bulge in the bonnet might get in the way!

Sheeee... where do I bloody start for myself!

Right... My XM V6 24v needs heater matrix and HP Pump belt swaps, servo motors on the heater box, both sides in operative so also need changing
Finish stripping a 2.1 SED Manual down to bare bones and get rid of the shell.
Get an engine out of a TD xantia and get rid of remains
Get engine and a few more bits off a T reg 2.0 HDi SX 110 Xantia and get rid of the rest
Get a hole welded on outer front cill of the 2.1 SD Manual XM, and a window guide clip fitted, replace glove box catch and find/fit a new gas strut then consider selling on
Decide what to do with my 2.1 D Auto XM which is partually stripped bare..

So... can anyone beat this list!!!???? No I thought not.

Ohhh and ALSO, restore my Mk.1 TD SX Xantia Non Air bag, anti sinker Xantia...

BMW = Heater blower
C5 - selling
Berlingo - selling.

Should be able to get a secondhand working one for about £45 Paul, they're a bit of a fiddle to fit but then it should be ok.

A very very cheap S-reg 328i manual, in a curiously odd light metallic greeny/blue colour. Got it from my brother-in-law who was going to have it picked up by the scrap man tomorrow. There's nothing actually wrong with it apart from the heater blower and a bit of random tattiness here and there. It's got MOT, nearly a full tank of fuel, and it drives properly. It's just a toy seeing as I don't need two cars. I always wanted a 328 but I could never bear to part with the cash for one.

My favorites are the E28 5 Series. Had an E28 528i SE manual a few years ago... It was awesome but needed work. Had to get rid because I lost my storage space at that time in my life...
