Hi me again, xantia has failed on co2 emission test the garage said it is probably the solenoid. Can you tell me what solenoid and were to locate it as it isn't in the manual.[:(]

What kind of Xantia ? Petrol ? diesel? Age?

you dont say what engine size it is but ill take a guess & say 1.8 8v.if it is this type of engine try disconecting the battery & injection ECU for an hour before taking it for a re-test,this usualy works (provided there is no other running faults) it re-sets the paramiters of the ECU.
as for the solenoid i have no idea what they mean,are they maybe talking about the oxygen sensor ?? there is a charcoal canister electrovalve solenoid but i highly doubt it would cause the emmisions to be too high.

My fathers Xsara failed due to emissions.
The cause was a leak where the exhaust joins the manifold.
