Peugeot 2.0.Hdi van, Express?

Post by Peter.N. »

A friend of mine has one of these, it has an intercooler so I assume its a 110hp one, I haven't driven it but he says the performance is dreadful, having to change down going up hill etc, he has driven others which he says go much better, his father has a 90hp 406 estate and he says that is much faster.

He had a replacement turbo outlet pipe fitted recently as the original blew off, so it doesn't sound like lack of boost, there are no fault codes showing and otherwise its fine, good mpg and no black smoke, no slack in the throttle cable. any suggestions?

Faulty MAF should bring up fault codes in the range P0101 P0104. Reading live data with Planet may help.

Its a possibility although it has been looked at by a garage several times, never thought to ask if that had been mentioned, I will, thanks.

A faulty MAF often does not generate a fault code. Live data can be valuable but you need to know what values to expect. Some of these vans used a 16 valve unit from early on, perhaps 2002 so not quite the same as the 406. Often the only reliable diagnostic for the MAF is substitution, which is great if you have one to swap with but can be expensive if you don't. Beware of many of the cheap brand X ones out there. Always use a reputable supplier such as Siemens or Meat & Doria.

I've got a 406 and a C5 2.0. hdi so maybe one of those would fit. I haven't seen him for a couple of days but I will check them out when I do.
