change of engine to citroen berlingo

Post by mickeybo »

I'm about to replace the engine on this o4 berlingo fitted with the older type engine dw8 unit at the moment I have a replacement unit got from the breakers fitted with h/pressure fuel pump. Does any 1 know if the h/pressure pump already fitted to the re-placement engine needs re coding or do I need to swap pumps Confirmation to this would be greatly accepted Regards Mickeybo

Which engine are you putting in? Is it another DW8 or a DW10 HDi motor?

First of all have both engines got the same type of injection pump. There will be an identification plate on the pump. If the initial digits are the same then they should work. If they are different e.g one with DPC one with epic then you need to swap the pump so that the pump matches the ECU.
If they are the same then you have 4 options.
1. Swap the pumps.
2. Open the armour on the rear of the pumps and swap the immobiliser unit.
3. Remove the armour on the pump attached to the engine you are fitting and bypass the immobiliser.
4. Reprogram the immobiliser.

If they are both Lucas pumps keep the spare one. Lucas/Delphi pumps do not appear to be as long lasting as Bosch.
