You would hope they had learned from their previous mistakes. One of my family sayings is "Intelligent people never make the same mistake twice. They find a new way to foul it up!".

Bound to be rear radius bearings. Certainly mk 1 and face lift. Any x7 failures known yet?

Water pipe between auxiliar heater (Webasto) and heater matrix on diesel models (at least 2.0HDi and above) rusts away in 5 years.

Hi, is that in the X7 model ?

Can Mk1 and Mk1Facelift owners in cold climates confirm it is a carry over/part similar, same problem ?

Yes it´s X7, and I've heard it is common also with MK1 Facelift with diesel engine. Also C6 suffers same problem. This pipe is exposed to splashes from left front wheel, and at least here north salt water helps corrosion very much.

They seem to have got worse, the radius arm bearings seem to last a lot longer on the XM. The only other problem I have had with my C5 has been the heater flap controls but if you fiddle with them they will sometimes work OK. A lot to be said for having the base model!

I agree with most of your list, but I'm not sure that lack of seatbelt retraction can fairly be included.
It seems to be common to many different makes and models, and IME is usually due to buildup of sticky dirt on the guides.
I suppose if we all followed the maintenance instructions to the letter, and regularly wiped the belts with warm soapy water, it wouldn't happen!

CHECK ALSO
On inspection, the Anti-Roll bar is powder coated, this breaks up and the water gets under it and is damaging the rubber bushes....IT WILL NEED to be changed/taken off and the bushes replaced, the bar needs cleaning up to prevent it happening again.

Powder coating on flexible metal ??.....................Total IDIOTS !, wrong stuff
